Well, obviously, you don't mind shelling out your hard earned cash to a state with the 4th highest state and local tax rates in the country, and the highest average state sales tax. It also has, at present, the 5th worst unemployment rate in the nation, at 8.7%, and it would be higher, except that California counts all welfare recipients as "employed." (According to the latest Field Poll)
Businesses are still leaving California (73,000 businesses in 2012), as well, since it also has one of the highest corporate tax rate in the nation.
We had already decided to leave, and had sold our home about the time our vehicle registration was due for renewal, something like $350 for our mini-van! We were long gone before I had to pay it. Here in Ohio, it costs about $35.
California under Democrat control has a habit of throwing good money after bad. During the Reagan years, 78% of Californians said the state was one of the best places in the nation to live. That figure is only about 40% at present.
