Agreed. My wife is always talking trash about China. In some issues, with good reason. However, I think they will rule the world this century, because they have the largest population of very smart, industrious people in the world. I think it is far more constructive to put your national pride into science and exploration than into perpetual war mongering and profiteering. One feeds the imagination, the others just fuel paranoia and corruption.

I'd say underestimating China and its abilities would be the worst thing we could do, I remember all too well how people laughed at the little 600 HONDA brought to the US years ago.

its much like when I was a kid. People sent aid because china and many nations had people strarving. Now days they have created a better world for themselves and what we have loss in middle class they have gained. Now we see they do what we have done long before;and some start hating rather than just take it that more humans have achieved. We have been there done that and if we decide to stop for now or slowdown that is our leaders decisions.

Agreed. And the best post in this thread thus far.

[it's okay to congratulate them for their accomplishment]

If only liberals didn't push for all but useless liberal arts degrees we might have a better generation of engineers who would take the US back to the moon.

If only liberals didn't **** away trillions of dollars there would have been plenty of budget for NASA. I'm sure NASA could have done it for what Obama and the democrats wasted on "shovel ready" jobs and "investing" in green energy company campaign paybacks.

That you think anything here is glorifying China shows how completely out of touch with reality liberals are.

well put. the chinese are investing in technology, very heavily, and while they are still well behind the US, they will catch up in many areas. their learning curve is quite steep. how fast they catch up however depends on their economy. if it remains robust, they will have a firm footing and will catch up quickly. if it slows however, their efforts will be hampered somewhat. dont bet against the chinese in many areas.

If you control space, you control the world. America seems to have stopped caring.
