BS! Countries never ever get a "Free pass " from Yankee Imperialism. The US does what it does out of it's own interests or at least it's perceived own interests. Given the failure rate of US foreign affairs it is highly doubtful that anyone in power really understands where the nation's interests lay.

Indeed, the term 'national interest' is incredibly wishy-washy and abused to justify all sorts of crimes.

Yes, I hope Americans do remember our history. I hope they remember the lies and corruption of the party you support.
Let me get this straight. The democrat party forced Wall Street banks to make loans they knew would fail? The only issue I have with that is Wall Street tells our major parties what to do and how far to jump. I suppose the Democrat party also forced rating agencies to rate all those forced loans as AAA.

This is good news. I love to see Latin America moving left. Its only a matter of time before our country moves left for real (none of this half assed current Democrat efforts).

To get back to topic, which is Chile, that country has a very poor Gini index, and they know it is a problem, that needs to be corrected.

One of the drawbacks of the Right is after they fix the economic mess left by Leftists the people get complacent and succumb to the rosy rhetoric of the Left. Happened in NYC so it's not surprising.

South America always flirts with the Socialists who promptly screw up their economies.

Eh, I don't think the average leftist in Chile is all that similar to the average leftist in America, so I would be very reluctant to draw any conclusions from that race. There are currently examples of countries that are moving to the right as well as to the left.

By "our country" do you mean the U.S. or California? Just kidding, but I don't think anything is truly inevitable in American politics. Certain things are likely, but there is always uncertainty - just look at Thomas Dewey's inevitable win in 1948 or Karl Rove's Permanent Republican Majority.

She is the former president of Chile. I wouldn't think too many things will change.
