wrecking ball...I don't see it like that at all....I don't see how suggesting that raising kids with honesty is being dictatorial.

Its not dictatorial. More just being highly presumptuous, immature and a tad cocky.

Do not lie to your kids for they shall lie to you in return.

Do not let them watch Disney movies, ever. Nothing like bringing Depression on kids like Disney movies. Once they realize that they will never be happy like Cinderella, Mermaid, Aladdin, or Shrek.

Talk to your kids like they are adults. Don't baby talk your kids. Ever.

Respect them as a human being. Just because you "created" them does not mean you own them. To claim ownership over another human is called slavery. Why treat your kids like slaves?

Don't insult their intelligence and curiosity by limiting their access to knowledge and limiting their ability to ask questions.

And whatever you do,

teach your kids more than their grade school teachers ever could.

Teach them USEFUL things.

If you don't teach them, you have no right to punish them. (and no, teaching is not saying "you can't do this or that)

Nothing more joyous now than waking up our 4 yr old boys and they are so thrilled to see where the Elf was now located. They know not to touch him and they he watches over them before Christmas. It is magic by how he moves at night. I wouldnt dare take that joy away from them at this age. They grow up soon enough.
