I just caught the last of a new story they were doing when I walked in the door tonight, coming in from work.

I swear I heard them say that the SC struck down the Patriot act and the NDAA on grounds that it violated the 4th amendment.

I did a web search but didn't find anything.

Is this correct, or am I just hearing things???

maybe youre thinking of a district court that recently found the large scale NSA data gathering illegal, and ordered them to stop-said order of course held until appeal.

As mentioned by another poster, it was not the supreme court - but it will probably work it's way up to the supreme court.

OK thanks.

I walked in on the last of the story. Wanted to get the low down.
Still good news.

In an unrelated story... I can marry as many women as I want.

Liberals won't like this thread. The Constitution and 4th amendment were defended. I guess Obama will just appoint a commie judge to take over this court and all will be well in liberal la la land.

I have to say I really don't get this kind of comment, except as part of a liberal = bad/conservative = good knee jerk reaction. Generally the liberals on the court have been the ones to provide most of the votes to expand and embrace the 4th amendment. In cases like Gant and Hicks, while they had some conservative support relied heavily on the courts liberals. On the other hand some conservative justices like Alito in particular tend to reliably back the government on these cases. The idea that the 4th amendment would have any teeth without liberals in the courts is fantasy.

Alito wasn't involved so what are you talking about? We won't see this anywhere on the news flashes where the court ruled the government has violated our 4th amendment rights I'll tell you that. If it was the other way around the news flashes would be everywhere. Obama WINS would be the battle cry and liberals would be taking the day off to celebrate our rights being trashed by the government. It's pathetic.
