A&E indefinitely suspended Phil from the show. This dovetails well with Phil's previous announcement that he intended to leave the show because it conflicted with hunting and fishing.
Miss Kay, his wife, married him when she was 16. He went on to become an alcoholic, adulterer and barroom brawler. He left his wife and 5 kids. He claims he was saved by the lord.
Wow, a living example of the "don't point out the spinter in your neighbor's eye until you take the plank out of your own eye" parable.
You are absolutely entitled to your opinion. But if you're well-known because of your job and your stated opinions embarrass your employer, you should probably expect to get fired. I thought you guys on the right were all about employer's rights?
I would worry about A&E, if I were them. The advertisers are their employer; A&E is merely the venue and there are plenty of venues that would be happy to have them.
They should take their pony show to a different network, pure and simple. Shows like DD are what keeps A&E on the air, not the other way around.
I think everyone is entilited to there opinion. there is still freedom of speech in this country after all. so long as he isn't burning a cross on front yards, I see nothing wrong with expressing your opinion.
Of course he has every right to express his opinion. Just like we have every right to respond to it.
Of course people are entitled to express their opinions, and then they need to deal with the consequences for doing so as happened here.
Yet the hypocrisy is stunning.
I'll be the first one who supports the right of a private entity to deal with whomever they wish to deal with ( that would include, BTW, a business who doesn't want to bake a friggin wedding cake for someone), but we all know that it depends on which side of the fence you're on.
Just like the Chick-fil-A CEO, whose opinion was solicited, and who had the audacity to express it (and whose supporters ultimately turned out in droves), Robertson responded to a question. Unfortunately for him, he not only expressed the wrong one, he (gasp!) quoted a biblical verse which supported it.
Memo to the Rainbow Mafia who, themselves, don't wish to to deal with differing opinions: You may think you're going to suppress opinions about lifestyles and thereby force the acceptance of yours on everyone else, but you're not. As George H.W. Bush might say, "Not gonna happen; wouldn't be prudent."
It isn't really freedom of speech if there are repercussions involved.
Personally, I hope the feedback section of A&E and the phone lines are jammed to the point of causing everything to crash. The man was asked a question, he responded. The nancy boys didn't like it and threw a fit, and A&E caved in to political correctness nonsense, it's as simple as that. It's not like he said that he didn't believe the Holocaust didn't happen.
Umm, did you read the entire piece, or just a snippet off twitter? Let's get your grandparents on TV for an interview and see if you cringe, then we can see how you react if people lob blind hate at them.
I've heard from several gay friends who think this is absolutely stupid and there are more important social issues to address. But keep chasing headlines and clickbait, it seems to be the only move of the Faux-Offended on either side of the fence.

Actually the cake reference is about anti-discrimination law, which is very different than this.

Actually, he was using his company's profits to donate millions of dollars to anti-gay causes.

Really the same thing could be said about your comment. They have every right to say whatever they like. And we have every right to respond to it.

Just like Paula Deen she also was honestly responding to a question but "Freedom of speech" does not mean that a person is free from the consequences of that speech.
And while the First Amendment protects the freedom of speech, it does not guarantee a constitutional right to appear on television.

The man knew what the Holy Word Of God says
about a man having sex with a man, and a woman having sex with woman.
He told it on TV and everyone who heard him has been warned that it is a SIN.
Now they are without an excuse even if they do not believe the TRUTH.
