No surprises there.
Minneapolis, Boston, Seattle, and New York are quite liberal too. And are in much better shape than Camden.

There is alot of poverty, low education attainment, and drug problems in Appalachia, and this is a much more conservative area than Camden.

It has nothing to do with unions.

Its because vouchers are for the most part locally funded and take away money from the already failing schools. They also dont pay for transportation.

So how is a poor kid going to get 10,15, 30 miles to the next school ?

I didn't realize you guys considered Bloomberg to be a Republican, it always seems like everything there is a new thread about him on this site, it is about the liberal Bloomberg trying to create a nanny state. You can't have it both ways unless you are bi.

The predictions that De Blasio will return NYC to the era of the 70s and 80s were nothing but fear tactics used by a political team of conservatives that had no chance of beating De Blasio in the election.

I never thought about that part. If one doesn't have the transportation to get to a better school, then there is a problem.

In Alabama at a rural school that many would call backwoods, every kid who took the ACT was college ready. What does that tell you? These kids go to school, work, and say yes mam and no mam; but they don't have much money. Also, many of these same kids will start college with AP credit.

If the kids are saying "yes ma'am" and "no ma'am", it says something about how those kids were raised. However, there is something else to consider. How many kids actually take the ACT? I'm not trying to discredit you in any way. I just feel there is more to it.

They are required to. This district pays for all of them to take it. Well, not the special education students...sorry.

Like most states with the best schools. Statistically, northern liberal states have good education and southern conservative states have poor education. So you don't have much of a point. Clearly, Camden is an exception.
