Most corrupt president we have ever had. He is worse than the criminals.
And how much do you think your taxes should go up to pay for all those prisons needed? Maybe we can finally imprison our way out of the drug problem yet. Just build hundreds of new prisons.

Why only 8? What of all the others?and yet still his policies seem to be a continuation of the failed drug war.
Could the reason be that Obama is a hypocrite?

Because Congress can pass bipartisan legislation that can release the other thousands that are incarcerated under the same circumstances and maybe the POTUS wants to use these pardons to set the example and start the ball rolling to make certain that these types of unjust sentences do not happen long after he is gone.

Right, because releasing criminals into society is the same thing as discovering a cure for cancer, it's clear who is sociopathic and out of touch with reality.

Will Obama apologize when these 8 commit new crimes, or will he say he mis-spoke when he pardoned them?

Yeah maybe lol
Cold comfort for those rotting in cells unjustly right now.
Why doesn't Obama stump for an end to the drug war like he has to promote obamacare, green energy, income equality...the man is a fraud and your excuse making for him is embarrassing.

I could think of better people to free other than people involved with crack. But this comes as no surprise coming from Obama. His type of people. I wonder if one of them was his dealer, since he admitted to using

Prison.
OK, but could we at least agree that our drug laws should be enforced fairly (black people are roughly 3 times as likely to get arrested on drug charges, despite using illegal drugs at basically the same rate as white people; this is actually way down from the Reagan era, when the number was around 5x)? Could we agree that sentencing should be doled out fairly and black people shouldn't be given harsh sentences while white people are let off easy?

Race comes up in the drug war because the drug war has had a lot of highly racially driven enforcement and sentencing.

Wow, this might be the first post in history where I agree with sickofnyc and his sarcasm. This is also one case were I agree with Obama. Drug laws and drug sentences should be eliminated and commuted. End the failed "War on Drugs" once and for all.
