Just-released Dept of Finance estimates show California enjoying its fastest growth since 2004. Population is now 38.2 million:

LA Times

Significantly, the new growth includes a net migration INTO California from other states, reversing a decade-long trend.

So much for the "everybody is fleeing California" BS.

The rest of this discussion will be about illegal immigration. Plus maybe a couple of posts about pensions and the indisputable fact that Jerry Brown is a Commie.

What are you talking about? The article said there was net migration into California from other countries, but did not mention net domestic migration. Country =/ state

"Nearly 170,000 people came to California from other countries, but nearly 103,000 left for other parts of the United States during the same period, according to the new estimates."

"Echoing the statewide trend, the bulk of the population growth in Los Angeles County was the result of births, instead of being driven by migration. Roughly 55,900 people were estimated to have moved to Los Angeles County from other countries, but nearly as many left the county for elsewhere in the U.S."

I knew it would be pure spin by the OP.

Some posters are as predictable as the DNC and OFA. Coincidence? I think not.

Top Shrinking states:

1. Illinois
2. New York
3. California
4. New Jersey
5. Ohio

What two words do 4/5 of these states have in common? The first word is High and the second starts with a T and ends with X. There is a vowel in the middle and it is a popular word with our President.

Several things:

1. Massive political corruption
2. One part rule (Democrat)
3. High taxes
4. High level of regulation
5. Antagonism toward business and commerce by governments
6. Too many governments, period.

An example of #6.

I live in DuPage county, IL. I have a homeowner's association... local city government... Township government... County government... and state government. There's a forest preserve agency that duplicates many of local and county functions... the school districts don't follow city, township, or county lines and so are government agencies that often have voters spread among different cities / counties.

The city and county throw so much salt on the road that the road is white as cement (and dry). Why? Because every time it snows, lawyers start threatening to sue unless it's all removed. Back in Montana, you were lucky if the county came by every 2-4 weeks to clear the roads - and we had as much winter weather. And we coped just fine.

The local city hires contractors that spend vast sums of money on aesthetics that have no real impact and aren't really of any value.

But will it change? Nope. People have just given up on trying to run their own lives.

Jerry Brown was awful the first time he was governor. I can't believe the stupidity of making him governor again!

Count me and my family among those who left, and there was a good reason we left: "It's the economy, stupid." Ever increasing taxes and fees on everything is part of it. We had had enough.
