Before Justine Sacco took off for Cape Town, South Africa, on Friday, she tweeted:
By the time she landed 12 hours later, the message had been magnified by a social media mob and Sacco’s employer, IAC/InterActiveCorp, had distanced itself from her.
On Saturday her Twitter account disappeared and neither Sacco nor IAC had anything more to say — perhaps disappointing the many angry Twitter users who were expecting her to be fired on the spot over the offensive tweet.
Sacco is the head of corporate communications for IAC, the media company chaired by Barry Diller that operates websites like The Daily Beast, About.com, CollegeHumor and Match.com. Her whole job revolves around communicating with reporters — which made her Twitter comment about Africa all the more shocking on Friday.

Pretty accurate given the context...
Is it time to hang her too....Look out thought police are coming to get ya.
as a PR profesional what she did was just horrible. she would have been hired by , say a company whose exective made such a remark to do damage control. She is held to a higher standard, especially that she knows and understands how effective social networks are and how a statement like that is damaging.. How can she be trusted to clean up someone else's mess and help prevent it again the future when she does so. And she should know better.
it's like a big DUH..she committed professional suicide.
Fired for cause would also mean that if she was flown over there on company business she's now on the hook to fly herself home on her own dime. Haaaar!
Ya gotta love the irony of a so-called communications specialist dropping herself in the chit by communicating in a stupidly unprofessional and infantile fashion. Wonder how this twit got her job in the first place?

Sadly, this appears to be a substance abuse (alcohol) issue with her. Hopefully this will spur her to get help and in to recovery, and rebuild her life.
