Buchanan thinks he is some kind of high-level political thinker, when in fact his shoes are stuck in the concrete of the Cold War. He can only define America in terms of its international enemies and other external threats. He has little interest in describing America's domestic social/political realities. He's a conservative Catholic, so he already has all his answers about domestic social policy from the Church.

Buchanan hasn't had anything to offer since his Nixon staffer days, when the Cold War was tangible, and certainly nothing since the Cold War ended.

Funny then that everything he said back then and now has come true and is coming true. No, he is not stuck in any cold war but politcal rhetoric seems to be. Actually, Buchanan is not just spewing what you and others want to say is the church at all. He declares what he truly believes, which is something that almost all of the candidates don't do. Most of them run by the polls, even Bush. Buchanan is an intelligent person and understands and knows more about history than most in this country. Newt Gin grich is also a very intelligent person when it comes to history, except that Newt is far more politcal than Pat is.

Interesting read:

The Communist Takeover Of America - 45 Declared Goals

Many of these goals have been achieved in recent years.

Communist and fascist goals are very similar. The difference is who winds up owning the place

Relative to other countries, we may be slipping - but that does not mean our standard of living is going down. Wealth is not a competition, and there doesn't have to be a "loser." It is possible for all countries in the world to all grow, and all have increasing standards of living.

• Torn asunder by a culture war, America has now begun to break down along class, ethnic and racial lines.
What is leading you (or Buchanan) to think we are in a "culture war"? I don't see this breakdown you're talking about.

• The greatest threat to U.S. sovereignty and independence is the scheme of a global elite to erase America’s borders and merge the USA, Mexico and Canada into a North American Union.
Sure, that would be a threat to our soverignity - but I don't see this as a serious movement. I've never seen a politician (federal, state, or local) support the idea of one single North American nation.

• Free trade is shipping jobs, factories and technology to China and plunging America into permanent dependency and unpayable debt. One of every six U.S. manufacturing jobs vanished under Bush.
Our economy is changing, structurally, just like it always has. This is why we need to maintain flexibile labor markets.

• “Sovereign Wealth Funds,” controlled by foreign regimes and stuffed with trillions of dollars from U.S. trade deficits, are buying up strategic corporate assets vital to America’s security.
If foreign regimes are investing in the U.S. (however they get their money), doesn't that mean that those countries will have a greater financial interest in seeing the American economy grow? Doesn't that help global economic stability? Would you rather they invest that money in Canada? Brazil? India?

* European-Americans, 89% of the nation when JFK took the oath, are now 66% and sinking. Before 2050, America is a Third World nation.
Thid world status has nothing to do with ancestry.
