The cynic in me agrees with you however Obama is also a narcissist and Obamacare's failure will destroy his image that is why he fought so hard for it and was willing to shut down the government and veterans benefits to preserve it. I don't think even he believes America will ever accept a single payer system. Look at the DMVs, county tax offices, Amtrak, public utilities in many areas......most Americans have very little faith in government competency. When I go to the DMV I expect them to make mistakes, I expect laziness and incompetence. My expectations of government workers are very low, and even so I am often disappointed. Most Americans know that in a government run healthcare system, the DMV/MVA attitude will be the norm in health care.

It took my local Wendy's 3 weeks to built an entire new wing to a restaurant as well as completely remodel the inside of the existing part. If it was a government building it would have taken at least 2-3 months. If you are not happy with health care now it will only get worse in a single payor system and that is without the illegal aliens, anchor babies, and their sponsored family members.

Remember, Obama authored none of this.. It was designed to fail.
Obama has never actually written ANY legislation what so ever. He is clearly the least qualified man to ever serve in the oval office.

Why do you suppose that happened ?

Reid and Pelosi told them it was coming out and no questions were to be asked.

California is so against it they passed a bill to prohibit its use in 2011.
E-verify has been around since the early 90's in one form of a pilot program or another. No one took it seriously.

As I understand it, Rep Jack Kingston (R-GA) added the e-verify amendment to the house stimulus bill and then voted against the bill.

In 2011, SCOTUS made it clear nothing precluded states from making e-verify mandatory for all or some workers. Response has been ****-poor. Not clear to me if special interest groups/small business lobbies have more influence at the state level or if some state prefer not to spend their funds implementing it so they blame the federal government.

As with most things, I do not view this topic as bipartisan. Follow the money.

e-verify is nothing more than a propaganda piece to assuage Americans that being a citizen is taken seriously.

That and the $500 fines to slaughterhouses after they get raided each time tells me plenty about how tough the government wants to be on hiring illegals.

If it is a fact, you surely have several unbiased news sources to link to in order to verify what you said. Right?

I haven't seen any bills pass Congress to create a single payer system.

I have my own mind and it works pretty well. I don't need a source to make a statement of my opinion. You're right "at this time" there is no bill before congress to create a single payer system but that was and is the ultimate goal of socialists. It will come when this all comes crashing down. You can bank on it. It may be another 4 years, but it's coming.

Reagan promised to crack down on employers who hired illegal workers and secure the border once and for all. He did not. Neither did any president or Congress beyond that point. Republicans were the majority in the house most of those years and held the majority in both chambers for 6 years. Illegal immigration exploded during that time.

Yeah, it's all Obama's fault.

Seems to me that neither party had an appetite to take action. Is it possible that the influence of the special interest groups and small business lobbies/donations trumped all else?

I agree. They have to mess the system up so bad that single pay will be the only way out of it.
That means even higher premiums and payouts until even the upper middle class are crying.

You still have 30% of us on grandfathered plans.
Another year or two and no one will be on them just as HHS/IRS/Treasury is predicting.

Undocumented workers dominate the construction trades in many states. Texas and parts of California were built on the backs of undocumented workers.

Has any president, in modern history, written legislation?

Heck, Congress does not write most legislation.

Most legislation is written by lobbyists.
