I think Rome was basically civilizations first multicultural society. Africans in the Roman army fought along side Greeks, and Arabs.

I do not disagree with that....I do not know the facts to agree or disagree. However, from the facts I know of history, racism did not always exist as it does now. You can go back to multi-racial early Egypt.

That is true.

Because the people who constantly call others racists, continually talk about how they are unable to get ahead because of racism and are constantly on the witch hunt for any kind of perceived racism are actually racist themselves. They are actually using the term "racist" the same way some ignorant troglodyte would typically use the N-word.

Whites have never been the victims of societal racism, so "racist" is the best slur that non-whites can use to put down white people.

He never said whites were the only racist. It sound like your taking this personally.

There is a distinction with a difference between constantly calling others racist vs. constantly noting that racism exists and causes problems. True of false? Who would make that claim that people cannot get ahead because of racism when there is evidence of people getting ahead even during slavery? Racism does not prevent people from getting ahead, its just makes it harder on groups that have historically been victimized by it to get ahead relative to those groups who have been the perpetrators and beneficiaries of it historically.

I mean....can we use honesty and or intelligence together here? Racism has a clear definition that can be looked up with little effort. Nothing that you have said maps to the definition of racism. You are just trying to use some sort of rhetorical jujitsu by using the power of the claim against the ones making the claim.

As usual, threads like this do nothing but promote racist thinking.
But, if the state could find a way to tax racism they would, and then foment it.

Of course racism is undefinable, right? Either you are a racist or you're not, unless you're white, and then you are no matter what you think. That's the funny thing about coming from a white, Hispanic, black family... I can see the hypocrisy on all sides.

Almost all of them were slaves, man! Ever heard the story of Spartacus? It is estimated by historians that up to half of the population of Rome were slaves. Now, in a twist of logic, one might technically claim that because no one group were singled out for slavery, it wasn't "racism", but I doubt that it much mattered to the slaves.

As for this false idea that "black slavery" was racism, while all other slavery was not, I don't buy what you are trying to sell here. Those black slaves that came from Africa were sold to white slave traders by blacks who defeated and captured other blacks and sold them. More importantly, blacks were enslaved by Egyptians long before the first white man ever set foot on African soil. Muslims enslaved black people, long before the British did. And this may come as a shock to you, but black slavery in the American colonies made up only a small percentage of the total world wide slave trade. And it was America that was most instrumental in ending slavery of black people around the world ..... rather than being the inventors of it, as you suggest.
