Why Not? TV was always free for decades. The networks made their money off of advertising. the networks still make their money off of advertising. Now there is a middle man who has injected themselves into the system between the networks and the viewers and for some strange reason we have to pay them first before we get TV.

I mean what's up with that BS????

I remember when cable was advertised strictly as commercial free back in the very early 80s. And it was. Now we get to pay to watch commercials. Reading the replies is interesting in that I will soon go a different route.

Yup....I remember this also. Pay for the cable TV and no more commercials. Sounded like a great idea but after the CATV companies had enough people signed up....back came the commercials

LeaveWI, we have digital terrestrial in the US as well. I have ~75 free local channels (if I count everything in southern California as local) which comes in clear digital signals plus I have netflix and my Roku box. Total cost per month $7.95 for all that including virtually every movie or tv show on demand at no additional charge. I'd say it is a much better deal than cable.
