the birthers have been busy handing out "sheriff kits" ( basically a compilation of the maicopa county cold case posse claims ) to congress. so far the responses from congressmen ( or usually staff ) have been a lip-service " we'll look at this ". to his credit paul ryan has sent back an official response. altho i note that ryan never actually says that obama is eligible he does offer this:

" On April 27, 2011, in response to these criticisms, President Obama released the long form of his birth certificate, which was issued by the Hawaii State Department of Health."

the birthers are now screaming that ryan is a traitor

Congressman Ryan has presidential ambitions and knows being connected with "birthers" is basically political suicide at this point. Not much more to the story than that.

Confessing to being a Christian is a political liability these days, never mind being labeled a "birther".

He's just pissed off he lost. For some one who claims to represent the "winners" in life, he is sure a sore loser.

Ryan, not that I would ever open for him, is openly Catholic, so your comment doesn't make any sense.

As the left so frequently reminded us during the election last year, Ryan's positions are not credible because "he has Eddie Munster Hair".
