C. The granting of a concealed handgun permit pursuant to this article shall not thereby authorize the possession of any handgun or other weapon on property or in places where such possession is otherwise prohibited by law or is prohibited by the owner of private property.
The prohibition needs to be in the form of state law, not just a sign over the door.
Quote:
Additionally, Virginia state law allows bar and restaurant owners to ban weapons
from the premises, as long as they prominently display a gun-free sign in the
establishment. However, “No Firearm” signs in Virginia do not carry the force of law unless the property is specifically mentioned in state law as off
limits to individuals with a permit or license to carry.
Those two quotes contradict one another. The law says an owner can restrict guns, the article says they really cant. And the pdf you linked said owners can at the bottom of page 3.
UnderVirginia law, a license to carry a handgun is not valid in any of the following places or circumstances, whether it is issued by Virginia, or a person is carrying pursuant to a reciprocity between his or her state of license and Virginia:
While under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs
Consumption of alcoholic beverages while in any restaurant or club licensed to sell and serve alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption
While on the private property where the owner has prohibited possession
So you can take it into a bar as long as you aren't drinking. And the owner consents.

No the law does not state that an owner can restrict guns unless his establishment is specifically stated in the state law as prohibiting.
Well if it is wrong then why did Toby Keith need to make a statement, according to your posts guns are not allowed in drinking establishments.
If you're going to summarize my posts, please be honest about it. According to my posts, guns are not allowed in privately owned drinking establishments where the owner has prohibited them.

Read the law and look at the links to the law texts provided. It does, indeed, say that and makes no mention about the private establishments needing to be specifically stated.

Why is this so crazy? Some places restrict hats. Some places restrict people with no shirt. Toby Keith used common sense and banned guns from his private establishment. Its his right. I know right wingers haven't forgotten about property rights.
