Are we getting weakened? have you seen those new Navy destroyers?
Yes, we are currently very weakened. If someone decided to attack us right now we would be in a position of weakness with so many of our troops in other countries.
Interesting that I am not a registered member of either party, and vote for the best person which sometimes includes a 3rd party candidate, yet I agree with 13 of those beliefs.

The fact that our troops are in other countries would be a huge benefit.
North Korea can't attack USA or South Korea because we're already right at their front door.
>Get out of the middle east and put our troops on the southern border
>I'm all for a strong military but we can cut a lot of funding and still be far ahead
>Stop sending money to country's that hate us
>Cut back on most of our overseas bases
>Strictly enforce our current immigration laws and make it impossible for illegals to collect any benefits so in that case our welfare will be cut from the ones who don't deserve it.
>Have and enforce limits on any welfare handouts so we can stop giving entitlements to people who are lazy and abusing the system. Make it a requirement for any able bodied person on welfare to work for it. Examples would be cleaning medians on highways, cleaning graffiti in cities, building/repairing roads, highways and bridges. When their time is up from welfare they should have the knowledge and skills to possibly start their own landscaping, paving, contracting business etc.. So in that case welfare would be cut.
>Stop ALL useless spending for crap programs.
>Make ALL elected officials, INCLUDING THE PRESIDENT AND HIS FAMILY, pay for their own vacations, gas, transportation, and health insurance so they may actually see how the rest of us live.
I don't consider myself a Tea Partier but I do sympathize with them on a lot of issues. Here's what I would do:
Best case scenario: people pay taxes for the services they use or voluntarily support. That's it. The stuff we need gets money. The stuff we don't need doesn't get funded. That's the best way to go.
Barring that, I would simply cut everything by about 50% or whatever percentage it would take to balance the budget. This cut includes pay for elected officials. It might not be 50% but I believe it's pretty close. Then I'd start slashing government and lowering taxes. Dept. of Education, BATFE, NSA, the Drug Czar - all gone. Anyone with "czar" in their title gets a one way ticket to Moscow. TSA? Privatize it. San Francisco has private security screeners who are better, nicer, and faster than TSA agents. I'd work toward paying off the national debt and not just the deficit.
I'm at a loss as to what point he's trying to prove, or think he's proved. The Tea Party advocated spending cuts across every program, including the entitlement programs. A small percentage cut in SS has a larger impact than cutting half of a small program. Every program should be reviewed.
I'm willing to bet the OP was not expecting posters to suggest we cut back on the military, and when they did, his point was gone..
In theory this sounds good but those states who are controlled by certain entities (the koch brothers in Ga) will dismantle the protections used to for the air and water for their own good (papermills for example) and other less corrupt states were they are lacking in education it would only get worst. If that happens you would have a great disparity not only in income but education and employment in those states which woulsd also lead to mass migration to better run states and create a domino effect
To my liberal friends, please don't respond to this thread because I'm making a point, and I don't want this thread to get hijacked. You'll understand later. To my republican opponents, just tell me what spending you would cut to get to a balanced budget. its that simple. Have fun.
We see these threads all the time. Each lib thinks himself brilliant for having come up with the challenge.
Start with the $6.65 per cheeseburger that Amtrak loses on its $9.50 cheesburgers and go from there. Turn it over to McDonalds and see if they can do a little better.

How about it OP? Would you approve these cuts or is spending fine the way it is?
