Yeah, this is my rebuttal. YOUR tax rate is based on YOUR income. AND based on how many deductions you have. I have ZERO deductions. So I've been subsidizing your taxes for a long, long time. And you have the NERVE to complain because I qualified for a small subsidy on insurance costs. When part of your FAMILY's insurance rates were subsidized by the higher rates that single people paid. If you had had to pay the full freight on your insurance and taxes all these years, maybe you'd have a point. But you've been subsidized along the way, and patting yourself on the back for it. While single, home-owning taxpayers have been making up the difference.
Your tax rate has nothing to do with a means tested program run by the Federal government.
Obamacare is right up there with SNAP, WIC, free lunches in schools.

And so are the property taxes that pay for your public schools. Why should people who don't have children be paying to educate yours?
jazzarama, that's not how our government works... If you don't like the ACA work with your representative to repeal it or file a lawsuit so the courts can strike it down...
Educating yourself on how government works is better than hoping...
You said ---
"Just because the people that are against ACA are the loudest doesn't mean they are the majority...
Simple mathematics..."
I'm telling you the majority opposes Obamacare. Other than polls that showing majority opposition, a national referendum is the only way to know. Since unlike some states, we don't have national referendums on single issues, we'll never know.
Keep convincing yourself that taxes are the same as means tested welfare programs.
Keep convincing yourself that you haven't benefited from any government programs your entire life, and so are entitled to put down others. You are such a superior citizen, I'm sure. In the meantime, just remember that I'm the one whose taxes paid your paycheck. And I got nothing in return for it.

Unless you are the CEO of a major multinational then no you didn't pay my paycheck
This is not communist China..yet.
And who is to say I didn't pay more taxes than you over the course of my lifetime ?
You think you're funding the Fed budget or something on your own ?

If you collected a paycheck from a public school system, then people who owned property but did not have children payed a portion of that paycheck. They were forced to pay for something they didn't use. They subsidized the costs of educating other people's children. Subsidy. Which, according to you, is welfare. So, by your logic, you've been getting welfare too. Boo-hoo-hoo.
My husband and I, with no pre existing conditions and on no meds, and no other dependents, pay nearly $700 a month for insurance. We have a $10,000 family deductible ($5000 each). Our co pays are $40 for a generalist and $75 for a specialist. No pregnancy or mental healthcare coverage is included. This was literally the best deal we could find.
We went to the ACA website and the same plan, via the same provider (BCBS) was $200 MORE a month in premiums.

Substitute teacher post retirement.
No welfare there..I had to work to earn that paycheck.
If I don't work I don't get paid.
Can't say the same for SNAP or WIC or TANF or medicaid.
And they don't subsidize it at all..they pay for it entirely with property taxes.

Property taxes from people WITHOUT children.
I work, too, you know. And I make a solid income.
But what I don't do, that evidently you do, is think I'm better than people who need help.
And I remember, always, that taxes we ALL pay go to things we DON'T all use. They subsidize services. How many people pay taxes that go to support air travel, who rarely or NEVER fly? How many people pay taxes that pay for Veteran's Administration and the services that veterans receive? I don't see you starting threads telling veterans they are on WELFARE, and belittling them.
We live in a society where we ALL pay taxes, and those taxes sometimes benefit others more than they benefit ourselves.
