What the administration is that pre ACA (aka like 5 days ago), the vast majority of people under the age of 40 could have signed up for high quality HSA compatible deductibles for around $2500-3000 (singles) and $5000-7000 (families) with the same premiums that the ACA is trying to charge. Except the ACA deductibles are just about double.

I've posted on previous threads examples I've found on ehealthinsurance for ages 18-50 in December 2013. Compare them to Jan 2014 exchange prices.

Unless you are sick and old (or both), you will end up paying more. The crap shot is most younger folks even with subsidies are going to still pay more.

75% of bankprutcy filings that cited medical costs already had health insurance. That's with lower pre ACA dedudtibles.

Just imagine those 90% who the govt will now have insurance. Just imagine how many will still file BK with health insurance. There isn't much financial protection when you are faced with $6000 dedudtibles, $10000 deductibles. An illness will swallow people. Insurance isn't going to help them.

That's a good point. Many on these forums think "everyone" should be responsible for the "nickel and dime" health care and only have insurance for catastrophes. Thing is, there is no "nickel and dime" health care. Even a full set of immunizations for a baby can cost >$1000, and that's not including the doctor visits.
