We are talking about two different things, the recall in Colorado was about gun control, the whining for secession was because a black Democrat won reelection.
Also Colorado will stay a purple state for another election or two, but will continue to go blue and will eventually go the way of Oregon. I have a few liberal friends that have moved to Denver because it reminded them of Portland with less rain and more skiing. It is a beautiful state, I could definitely see more liberals moving there.
You obviously don't follow Colorado politics. Eleven counties had secession (from Colorado) petitions on their ballots. The measure passed in FIVE counties with very small populations; failed in six including Weld County, which started the ball rolling. Their issue was "rural vs urban", which was a cover for "gun control", environmental regulations and such.
That I don't know tho IMHO the US dollar would still be used since it's already used in many other countries. If it works, why not?
Some foreign (to the US) countries do use the USD. But they lose out on monetary policy and controls. For instance recessions and wars go from more difficult to impossible. Like Greece.
And also states cannot cover all the HC needs of their people without Federal supports, especially seniors. So right away that would be a major upset or impasse for that new country.

Do note vote tallies. Colorado's state population is about 3 1/2 million.
Good information. I did not know that eleven counties had put it on their ballots, or that five had passed. I recall Weld and Elbert counties dominating the news, but perhaps that's because of their size and proximity to the Front Range. I wonder where things stand in the counties that passed their petitions.

And? if those rural Colorado people don't like that their state is becoming more blue, they can always move to a much more red state in the country....like maybe Kansas.
Also, those eleven counties weren't trying secede from the country, they were trying to create a new state in the country, which isn't the same thing. Also, those rural people will have to work with the rest of the state if they want things done cause they will never get their own state.

To be fair, it's also important for our state government to recognize the needs of the rural counties that support the cities of the Front Range. It's a cooperative venture.

Very true, and it is important for rural Republicans to know they can't get everything they want when they are the minority.
I think the entire episode is a wake-up call to our state that we all need to do more listening and cooperating.
