Agreed. But China seems not to want to cooperate militarily. I don't even think we should be trying anymore at this point. USA doesn't have to be numero uno, but we're not exactly an easy takedown either

I agree: and China should also be concerned about India right next door-------both countries are pretty closely matched in many regards.

I suspect the pragmatists in China realize that Japan, S Korea and even Taiwan are no threat------provided that the former country keeps its bellicose rhetoric down.

Default get used to it.

On the actual issue of the article. My guess is that some high up Chinese military general felt like being a jerk to our navy. Not much more than that.

As for China itself. Look china is going to be a player that rivals us in the future. We just have to live with that.
To be honest if you want to actually hurt china we as a nation have to make some sacrifices and not buy Chinese made goods or initiate fair tariffs. Of course I doubt we as a nation have the conviction to do so. "Oh no." "it's going to cost me 5 buck more for my items?" This is what your going to hear if we actually decided to put fair trade tariffs into action on most items.
So guys get used to the Idea of the U.S. sharing world power with another country once again.
