House leadership wants higher minimum wage in WV* - State News - Charleston Daily Mail - West Virginia News and Sports -

These people claim they are not Obama's lapdogs even though Governor Tomblin supported Obamacare and even raised Medicaid elgibility. Now the state level Democrats are also further taking the state on the road to socialism. In other states too the "conservative Democrats" still turn out to be liberal. I wonder why the elite liberal media refers to "moderate Republicans" but never talks about "moderate Democrats" only "conservative Democrats" and no "liberal Republican". I would consider John McCain a liberal Republican now because of his support for illegal immigration.

The ONLY area where West Virginia Democrats are more conservative is that there is none of the tree hugging that dominates the liberal urban elite and they are still friendly to the coal and natural gas industries because those are the things that the state depends on. However their loyalty to Obama has only been repaid by Obama escalating his war on coal. Any Republican elected here will ALSO support the coal miners against the urban tree hugging elite so people should get smart and stop voting Democrat just because they claim to help the coal industry.

This is another case of treating the symptoms and not the disease. The reasons retiree's many times have to get back into the job market is because of the artificially low interest rates. They had planned on living off the interest on their savings.

The government is seeing to it that they are not able to do this.

You seem to forget who said we heard you last time it got to the floor for planned vote. McCain himself. I think it was a big mistake for coal industry not to have invested in coal conversion or promote clean coal use.China coal industry now leads that research on conversion.

What does any of this have to do with socialism? I really wish people who have no idea what the word actually means or entails would stop using it to describe any policy they happen to disagree with.

Raising minimum wage is socialist? Do these things make sense in your head?

Socialism - Definition/Alternate - The stuff conservatives hate. If asked how it is socialist, the claimant will proceed to jabber like an idiot. Claimant will not know what socialism really is, likely to conflate it with Marxism, Communism, Fascism and Liberalism. Will not understand that they are different and the words are not synonyms.

The worst is when they confuse the concept of a welfare state (or even a specific element of such) with the economic system of socialism.

I get a kick out of this, it as if they think all of these terms mean the same thing....it makes you wonder if the far right wingers are a uniformed bunch of crazies that they try to make everyone else out to be.

Artificially raising the minimum wage is redistribution of wealth which is a hallmark of socialism. They are doing this at a time when liberal taxes and regulations are already making it difficult for small business to survive, and in WV with Obama and the EPA's war on coal causing lower incomes that will also hurt businesses.

Liberals should realize that people start businesses in order ot profit. These are not non-profit organizations which seems to be all liberals understand. We shouldn't even be talking about whether businesses can absorb this ridiculous proposed minimum wage hike without being forced to shut down or lay off workers. We need businesses to THRIVE, not just survive. Doing so means getting rid of liberal taxes and regulatiosn and other liberal policies like constantly raising the minimum wage.
