Actually, Obama and Carney have been very polite in their disagreement with Gates' opinions. No trashing at all.

On the other hand, Glenn Beck--not so much.

I can't say this surprises me at all - you didn't have to be a Washington insider to understand that there are some serious problems with Obama's Foreign Policy and Defense Policy. Obama was very effusive about Gates when he insisted on leaving - heaped tons of praise on him, gave him medals and BEGGED him to stay. It says a lot about former Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates that he never showed what he really thought of Obama's lack of leadership - he accepted the Job and he followed orders. It's always amazed me that Obama and his Team are so totally Tone Deaf to the American People and even to his own advisors. Obama thinks he always knows best and at the end of the day - he remains both incompetent and clueless.

Robert Gates, former defense secretary, offers harsh critique of Obama’s leadership in ‘Duty’- Washington Post
Who cares about any Bush appointee right-winger's "harsh criticism" of Obama?? This is just business as usual.
Obama certainly knew that Gates, like some of his appointments, was a right-winger at heart. Imagine criticizing Obama for, among other things, the inherited Republican wars.
Also, the military brass always prefers repubs because they know a frightened, pro-corporate military-supplier, conservative administration will tend to give them whatever they want.
Right-wingers hate the poor but love the "always underfunded" military - so maybe Gates' agenda is to get another Bush-like administration into power, eh?
Let's keep in mind that frightened conservatives want American troops to remain in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and they even desire military expansion worldwide - no matter the cost. $$$$

Military brass consistently take potshots at democrats in the media and write books about how dems want to destroy America's defenses - for instance, according to RW military spokesmen, Clinton's "decimation" of the military. Laughable. This echo chamber is always out there doing its thing.
Clinton was chastised by various military leaders, Faux News and all its contributors for his "lack of leadership" while at the same time asserting that "conservatives don't need leaders". Leadership is for "everybody else" - What hubris!! It is no different under Obama.

The idiot Right despises the leadership abilities of both Clinton and Obama, but love the "leadership" of Bush. They consistently give republicons a free pass on the worst terrorist attacks in our history. In other words, hit jobs like this are to be expected, and who cares what any right-wing opportunist cares about a dem's "leadership"? Seriously.

A neocon writes a negative book about a Democrat. Not surprising.

This is better than the Pentagon Papers and Mr. Gates is a true hero to write such a good book.

The Jay Carney beard thing is comedy gold. He's getting eviscerated on Twitter for it, and is probably taking a T-booster just to be able to grow one.

Ironically, Jay Carney's beard means he now has at least ONE thing in common with the president.

I'm sure Obama will retaliate -- he's got self-esteem issues over Obamacare, and just cannot believe that anyone would dare say anything bad about him.

Wow, Carney's beard, and his inability to grow facial hair! Now we will have "Beard-gate" all over Fox? Manly, macho, and fertile republicans with all that hair? America just can't wait for this "fair and balanced journalism".
Well, you all got Trump's bird's-nest hair helmet - but at least nobody deemed it politically serious.

Nah, it's never going to be about 'beard-gate' with Carney.

It's his inability to lie convincingly. Granted, we've never had a PS that's had to lie as often as Jay "Clown" Carney, but still, he could take some pointers from his boss about lying.

Oh....that's right. He's lying FOR his boss.

Sorry to disagree.
Its not about Obama, but the position. 100 unemployed generals who were writing their memoirs, would had been happy to oblige. Regardless of president, cabinet positions have undeniable allure.

And no one is worried about the Middle East becoming the United States of Islam? That is probably the bottom line of Obama's foreign policy. If he wants that than do it and stop letting our soldiers die under false pretenses we want democracy there.

Hero? What kind of hero??
Why didn't he say a word before? He had no access to media outlets? How long was he in office? It takes years to figure out you disagree with the president?
