The president and Holder spend most of their time trying to figure out how not to enforce our laws, or how they can use the justice department and the administrative agencies under Obama's control, to delay, evade and obfuscate our laws and regulations, so they can reward their friends and cronies, and punish their enemies.

“What I think the American people are really looking for in 2014 is just a little bit of stability,” Mr. Obama said.

Although the president often rails against income inequality in America, his policies have had little impact overall on poverty. A record 47 million Americans receive food stamps, about 13 million more than when he took office.

The poverty rate has stood at 15 percent for three consecutive years, the first time that has happened since the mid-1960s. The poverty rate in 1965 was 17.3 percent; it was 12.5 percent in 2007, before the Great Recession.

Stagnant, is the word. This president creates instability in our economy.

We see Food Stamp enrollments rise by 250,000-400,000 each and every month, and a 50 year high in poverty under this president, and yet... his priorities are anything and everything except trying to turn the economy around.
Actually you need more facts here. Food Stamps is a program with less than 1% fraud rate-AND- Those which are able bodied are working. Only a small minute percentage are not. And i mean even those with young children are working. These are working families. MEANING THESE PEOPLE ARE WORKING AND NOT MAKING ENOUGH MONEY AT ALL.

To begrudge hard working people, who despite their best efforts, need a little help, is inhuman imho.

Corporate Welfare is the problem. These poor hardworking people pay much more in taxes than the Corporate Giants, well at least until OBAMA. The excuse was that they create jobs, except Warren Buffet and others say, NO. Jobs are being farmed out...not created. So this money is just re-invested, it is not going towards additional employment. BUT again, because of Obama, they now must pay as much as middle america which of course, is still not enough. Because they are NOT middle America.

Just sayin'

I've done extensive study on the USDA website, data provided there is amazing. How successful this program is in helping the elderly and employed americans extra food is unprecidented.

Which is all bad news for supporters of Obama. If after five years of his policies we have spiraling poverty, averaging 250,000 new poor people signing up for Food Stamps, each and every month for 60 months, and he is asking for an emergency extension of unemployment compensation. Than Obama's economic policies is a tragic failure with heart breaking consequences.

Where am I to blame for any of that? The person who hangs his hat on that nail is the president, it's his policies which have brought 15 million people so low that they are forced to plead for help, and thank god it's there, or things would be very bleak for the truly poor.

Just wanted to put things in perspective..
Then your beef is with Obama, he is the biggest crony capitalist the world has ever seen. Going on $7 trillion in new fiscal operating debt, with unfunded liabilities at $100 trillion, and we actually increased the poor in America at the rate of 250,000 each month???? People really need to ask themselves just who is Obama helping with his policies and what actually is his agenda.

Yep, and that 1/3 the Republicans control has been quite a big wrench.

How can the Republicans do anything without Sen. Reid and Obama approving it? BTW, wasn't it just bringing to an end a temporary increase to SNAP funding?

I will give you there is some truth to that

You're not to blame, sorry if it read that way, my fault. I never read anything to equate you to that. It was a generalized statement worded wrong

Yes that is correct. There was an extension? of some kind which allowed an extra amount of food stamps which equated to like $20 for a family of two for example. It expired a month or two back. The Food Stamp program is good, but it needs alot of help. Such as to offer a larger amount up front for those not working to buy manure and paydirt if needed. They should be growing their own food, as many if they are unemployed could be doing. Then the food stamps they get could go much further.

Last year we lost our home to a short sale. We were able to keep some property but we were dirt poor. Ate beans and the equivilant for many months. We Signed up for food stamps (which weren't enough) but eventually I got enough free manure off of Craiglist and dirt, and after some months a garden began growing our vegetabls. Then we ended up with too many food stamps yet they cannot lower them, I asked. Figured someone else could use the extra $50 we had each month. They were a lifesaver until we were notified we would begin work again at the school district. It had been 3-4 years and we wondered if we lost the accounts or they truly had no money to maintain the schools. We hadn't lost it, they let the schools go to pot because there were no funds to maintain them.

Good topic you started
