I see your point, and I've mentioned this as well. I am by no means a prohibitionist, but when it comes to cannabis vs alcohol, based on the effects on the body, they made the wrong substance illegal.

It's just astounding that you still hear this nonsense in 2014.

This says you were around a really low slice of the population. In my world, most pot smokers went on to live exciting lives in part because of their ability to be interested in many different things and to see things from a different angle.
The non-smokers were much more likely to stay in their small home towns, marry the wrong person too young, and live traditional low-risk, low-reward lives.
All this pot backlash is a waste of time, it's already here, our #1 cash crop. Legalizing it is more about convenience and avoiding paying for victimless crimes.

B-b-b-but that can't be right! Why don't ya know that marijuana use causes those who use it to become brainless, degenerate stoners! I guess folks forgot that some of the most influential and popular people throughout the history of the world used the stuff.

Until the federal government allows it, any petition to allow it on a state level is meaningless..

First off I'm not a leftist. And when cannabis was banned, can you guess who whas president, and which side of the aisle he was on? Franklin D Roosevelt... yes ladies and gentleman A DEMOCRAT!!! So don't blow smoke up my a** about how only leftists want legalization of cannabis, as there are many that I know from all political affiliations who support legalization!!!
Second. I'm a smoker, so I definitely agree with both of you on that point. When Ohio banned smoking in all businesses I voted against it, because I feel that it should be up to the business owner as to whether they allow smoking or not. If said business owner is losing money due to allowing smoking, and changes his policy, then I'm fine with it. But otherwise, something as simple as a sign on the door telling patrons "we allow smoking, enter at your own risk" (or something to that affect). I also think it's silly that when they built all 3 of the sports complexes in downtown Cleveland for the Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers they enacted a sin tax (in which voters voted on and passed) to tax smokers and drinkers. 2 of the 3 First Energy Stadium, and Progressive Field are open air stadiums. Smokers paid for those buildings, yet can't smoke in their seats, and are restricted to one area in the whole damn complex! Quite frankly it's a bunch of nanny state BS!
