Well, I love Jon Stewart. But in this, he is really going off the track.
Look, there is no doubt whatsoever that handouts discourage people from working. To believe otherwise is stupid.
If you can get paid as well, or nearly as well to do nothing, then you will do nothing.
The number of new disability cases doubled over the last decade. To believe that there isn't fraud or exploitation in the disability system is foolish.
The minimum wage being raised does not increase the quality of life of the poor. To believe otherwise is a fundamental misunderstanding of economics.
The only truth in what Jon Stewart ranted about, is how there is a double-standard when it comes to how the government treats big-business. But the democrats are just as much in the hands of big-business as republicans. And Jon Stewart never advocates less government intervention in the economy. So his opinion on economics is basically invalid.
Income inequality is not just the GOP's problem. It is a USA problem, possibly not as severe or meaningful as some say. But it just as much a problem for Obama, Reid, and Pelosi as it is for the GOP. The big difference as I see it is that the Dems want to reduce inequality by taking from the rich. The GOP wants to see the middle make more. They don't care if the rich keep making what they make.
Jon Stewart is looking out for the little guy, according to his dumb leftwing fans. lol
I suspect he doesn't mind the millions of dollars the rich Hollywood celebrities have or the over $3billions the extremely rich and liberal Oprah owns, ir the fact that the very corrupt and greedy Clintons have amassed huge wealth.
