Finn, you are delusional! Huckabee is NOT going to win the White House! He sure as Hell isn't going to get the votes from people in CO and WA given his stance on cannabis, and considering the people there spoke, and voted for legalization.
Cannabis will take a back seat when it comes to selecting a president. I don't think it will make it even to Top-10 issues.
Seriously? This is your argument? First of all, if my children hopped the fence into the neighbor's yard uninvited they'd better hope that something tragic happens or they're going to be facing serious consequences when they get home. If they're old enough to hop a fence they're old enough to understand that they shouldn't. Secondly, the neighbor is on private property surrounded by a fence. If he wants to leave his gun sitting in his back yard loaded he has every right to expect that his property and privacy will be respected. Third, it's my job as a parent to make sure that my children know to not touch a firearm, especially a firearm that doesn't belong to them or their family members, without express permission and supervision.
Correct! I was taught this way by my parents, and it is what I teach my kid!

And yet... more and more Americans are waking up and realizing what a failure your silly little war on weed is! Huckabee would NEVER in a million years get my vote, as I support candidates who actually believe in maximum freedom and liberty of the individual!
odanny...I watched reefer madness just recently...I couldn't believe what I was hearing and seeing. To think that they actually used to show this in the public schools (way back) is crazy....
Maybe the people who really believe marijuana is a bad drug have bought into it, and actually believe the antidepressants they take every day are trully better for them.

The one and only time I saw that film, I laughed my a** off! I can't believe that people actually fell for this crap, given that cannabis and industrial hemp prior to it's prohibition were used since the beginning of time. But I guess that is what happens when you get a bunch of crybaby special interests such as the paper industry and Dupont (back then), and Big Pharma today among others who use their money to use the force of the boot of government!
Most drug users believe their drug of choice to be a better choice than less preferred drugs, but the choice to use any drug is a bad choice.
A drug does one of two things.
It either makes you feel like more of a winner or less of a loser, but it's all a lie because giving yourself over to drug use means you've already stopped caring which one you really are.
Do you think that the multitude of synthetic prescription drugs that more people than not, take every day, is because they've stopped caring? And what about the doctors who're prescribing them?
Synthetic prescription drugs are also taken by choice are they not?..and they also usually come with a bunch of side effects.... that more drugs are needed for to counteract them.
Marijuana pales in comparison to the harmful effects of these other prescribed drugs.
In fact I don't really know of ANY harmful effects from smoking pot, though I do know of some beneficial properties.
Some care homes here actually use thc pills for their clients...for three good reasons..1) it slows the drooling down..2) It relaxes them..3) It stimulates their appetites.
Well, the war can't officially be a failed effort until its conclusion.
That wasn't what I asked.
You said the "failed prohibition on pot."
By what objective measure do you deem it to be a failure?
Prohibition (alcohol) was a success.
The objective measure to determine success is that 90+% of Americans complied with law. ~10% of Americans did not. Statistically speaking, that is not at all shocking, since 10% of any given population will break the rules or engage in criminal activity.
What would your grading scale be?
99-100 = A
96-98 = B
93-95 = C
91-92 = D
90 and below = F
People's view of Prohibition is skewed due to the fact that Hollywood has glorified and glamorized it.
You're given misleading information, like there were 22,000 Speak-Easies in New York City. Really? All operating at the same time? No. Over a 10 year period, which is what, an average of about 2,200 per year...
...in a city with 8 Million people?
A Speak-Easy was half a dozen people cowering in a dark, dank, damp cellar in fear the police would come any minute.
Those were hard-core alcoholics, not normal people.
I believe it is the police museum in NYC that has a nice collection of photographs, and when you look at those Speak-Easies, you'll see they do not look anything like what Hollywood says they did.
If 90% of Americans are not introducing foreign substances into their bodies causing damage, I'd hardly call that a "failure."

That isn't true at all.
Your "nation?"
Which one? The Cherokee Nation? Yeah, they didn't do so well.
The Miami Nation? Oglala Sioux Nation? Pawnee Nation? They didn't do so well, either.
The US has never entered a war that was not winnable.
However, the US has entered conflicts in which it lacked the Political Will to undertake the necessary strategy to achieve success.
If the US have fought the Germans using the same strategy it used in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, then we'd all be speaking German and I'd be with that hot blonde in the photo, which I must say is the best-looking blonde I've seen in a decade.
