Thousands are being locked up for marijuana each year. Alcohol causes 30x the traffic accidents, and 75,000x the deaths each year but is allowed to remain legal.

Why should someone lose their livelihood for something with medicinal, spiritual, and recreational uses? Meanwhile prescription Meds kill 5x more people than all illegal drugs combined.

America is becoming the biggest hypocrisy and is becoming less and less free by the day. Literally. By the day.

They are? I thought Sagan was known for a wild imagination... Gates for making money, and Jobs for having niche market products.

I don't think even YOU will try to argue that lots of money proves you're smart.

Well, "harder" drugs, namely DMT and Iboga have cured alchohol and marijuana addictions. With a rate of 50% for one doctor. I think that's better than Jesus's current rate of curing addiction.

I tried painkillers for my wisdom teeth (I can see how addictive they can be, I don't recommend starting on that road) and I tried morning glory seed, but never alcohol or MJ

A lot of that has to do with pot being illegal. Dealers who sell pot illegally are going to push other illegal drugs as well since its business. License and regulate pot and people will stop going to illegal dealers for it and thus will not have the exposure to and pressure to buy other illegal drugs.

How many pot smokers never tried alcohol before pot? Would that make alcohol a "gateway drug?"
