So why does the media and government use fear mongering in regard to drugs? Most hard drug users are people in the workforce. How could they otherwise afford to purchase drugs?

Crack and meth users I have met have all been adicts.

Pot and cocaine though I notice people only do when they want to party or chill out. But a handful of my friends did fall in cocaine addiction. Most just did it during extravagant parties though.

My sister was a meth addict. Seriously, its foolish and dangerous to suggest that the majority aren't addicts.

Meth is bad...mmmmkay?

.... So, what constitutes a crack or meth "user?"

In effect, indiscriminately declaring that people can use these highly addictive, life-threatening drugs ... without the fear or worry of addiction is reprehensible and the epitome of careless, sensationalism in journalism.

You have to narrowly define "addict".

Crack and meth are addictive drugs. That being said, people should have every right to throw their life away to an addiction.

Cocaine and Meth I have to disagree. I've seen too many and some were family members. Sure they have a job until the habit becomes their addiction. Nasty stuff!

It's called a functioning addict, some people can control their addictions through sheer willpower. I had a GF that smoked and could quit for days or even weeks but she'd always come back to them. We usually be out at the bar, have a few drinks and that was the end of the latest foray into quitting. She didn't want the cigarette, her body did. People that smoke cigarettes don't smoke because they enjoy it, the buzz off cigarettes when you first start is enough you easily crash a car if you weren't a regular smoker. That goes away and the only thing you are providing is a physical need of your body.

With the harder drugs like heroin it's inevitable death spiral regardless of will power, just takes longer.
