I am still stuck on why the US has 280+\- bases in Germany. That a swell perk for their economy.

Hmmm....not sure where you're getting your data from. Having been stationed in Germany twice, once right at the end of the cold war, and once in the time since, I never saw anything approaching 280 bases there. It is important to note that the stationing/basing in Germany is also much different than it is in the Continental U.S. (CONUS). In CONUS, bases are much larger, with most having a Division sized element as the main tenant unit. In Germany, the posts are much smaller, most only having a Brigade or less, where a Division is spread over a geographical area. As an example, in the early 1990's, Third Infantry Division was spread between the towns/cities of Wuerzburg (Leighton Barracks, Div HQ), Kitzingen (2ND BDE, Harvey Barracks, and Larson Barracks), Schweinfurt (1ST BDE, Conn and Ledward Barracks), Achaffenburg (3RD BDE, Fiori and Ready Barracks, and Graves Kaserne), and Giebelstadt Airfield. Now, 3ID is based at Fort Stewart, GA, with one BDE at Ft. Benning, GA. Sort of gives you an idea of the Installation size differential. There are nowhere near 280 separate Installations in all of Europe now, much less in Germany. Things have changed a great deal since the mid-1990s.

That certainly is not true. The Taliban were a creation of the Pakistani Secret Service (ISS), and had absolutely nothing to do with the US. From 1980 until 1988 the US supported the Afghani Mujahideen, which became the Afghanistan Northern Alliance in 1996.

In case you had not noticed, the US has been at war with the Taliban, and allied with the Afghanistan Northern Alliance, for the last 13 years.

What does " trend libertarian" even mean or have to do with it, except for the fact you are continuing to lay down a smokescreen for your man?
Lets see you condemn Obama for the on going deaths of women and children in a country we don't belong in.

You take a stance opposite of the principles this country was founded upon, and call those who remain true to them "anti-US"?
No, you and your ilk have simply co-opted what it means to be principled. Shameless.

No, I am very much for those principles, which is why you don't see me here spouting anti-US, or anti-military nonsense like you do.

My apologies to Obama - apparently the drone murders are squarely in the hannds of the CIA...

'Snuck into the trillion dollar government spending bill is a "classified" provision, introduced by Congress, that blocks President Obama's bid to transfer control of the drone program into Department of Defense control, Greg Miller writing for the Washington Post reported Wednesday.

The measure would "restrict the use of any funding to transfer unmanned aircraft or the authority to carry out drone strikes from the CIA to the Pentagon," the Washington Post reports, referencing statements by U.S. officials.'
