Offenders are most commonly heterosexual men, even if the victim is a boy. Many offenders are married men who live with a partner and children.
Being married to a person of the opposite sex and fathering children does not automatically mean someone is heterosexual, nor does it automatically preclude someone from being bisexual or homosexual. That should not need explaining to a person who supports LGBT rights/causes.
As for "them." I want to defend the Scout Leaders. Not this horrible one, of course.
I am a Cub Scout Leader, and we have to undergo pretty extensive child safety training, to ensure that no child is alone with a single adult, besides their parent, ever. I will say all the parents I have worked with to create great events for the boys (pinewood derby races, rocket launches, camping trips, day excursions,etc.) are extremely dedicated and work tirelessly for the kids. Salt of the earth people, and I am simply amazed at their dedication. We do not ask anyone about their politics of sexual preferences, but neither do we trust ANYONE to be alone with young children. We are fiercely dedicated to keeping the kids safe.
This dirt bag should have his huevos removed, boiled in oil, and thrown to the hogs, and he should then be tarred and feathered and thrown in the nearest available volcano.
But please, please, please don't lump the rest of scouting parents in this such a cretin. I am sure no one is more horrified by this than the other scouting parents who trusted the douchebag.
