Jimmy LaSalvia, a lifelong Republican who also happens to be a gay man, founded GOProud in an effort to provide a more conservative alternative to the Log Cabin Republicans. But now he's leaving the Republican party altogether. In a post on his blog this week, LaSalvia revealed that he had registered as an independent, though he still considers himself a conservative.

And in other news, the founder of "Fiscally Responsible Progressives" was shocked to learn that other progressives hate his effing guts.

To be Republican is to be a bigot. It's sad it took this guy so long to figure out the obvious.

Republican and Democrat is a distinction without a difference. Conservative Republicans are as mythical as Bigfoot, the Lochness monster , and, for you atheists, Jesus.

Um the actual platform is anti gay. Republicans have fought every single equality measure openly. The republican couldn't possibly be more openly and unabashedly anti gay. They've proven it to the extreme and openly over and ovet again. So stop lying.

Are you really that obtuse or just don't want to admit it? Try marriage equality. Try protection from being terminated from employment due to one's sexual orientation.

Interesting. I wonder where, politically, he'll end up. Like all other cons he has spent the past 6 years spewing nonstop, unbridled hatred at Democrats generally and Obama specifically, so wherever he goes, it sure won't be across the aisle.

Obama himself went to court to oppose gay marriage, and only removed DADT after a court ordered its removal..
