You make it sound like you are helpless to fight back...sad you give others so much power.

With such an inquisitive mind it should not be hard for you to go out to the Capital Pressroom website and listen to the quote in the broadcast yourself. I have heard it myself already. You should too, unless of course you prefer to argue a point reflexively rather than factually.

To help enable you: Jan. 17, 2014: Gov. Cuomo, Comptroller DiNapoli, Bill Hammond, Susan Lerner | Member Supported Public Television, Radio |WCNY

After you listen try tell me he didn't say that people who oppose the SAFE act (or as he spins it pro assault weapons) or are pro-life are extreme conservatives ... and as extreme conservatives have no place in New York State.

The very fact that damage control is required now should show you that he said what he said... Why else would his press office claim his comments "need more context"?

Capitol Confidential » Cuomo admin: Comments on

Cuomo’s comments, made on public radio’s “The Capitol Pressroom” on Friday, need more context, according to the governor’s office.
Without context you can have a headline ---

"Cuomo Admits Dems Oppose Abortion Rights, Gay Rights and Gun Control" followed by this quote from the interview ---

"We are right to life, we are pro assault weapon, anti-gay" Cuomo said."

In context, Cuomo used 'We' as positions of the extreme conservatives in NY.
---------------
It's obvious the quote you make such a big deal about needs context. This is a better sentence for what he was telling NY R's ---

'figure out who you are and figure out if you are of a extreme conservative philosophy and if you can survive in this state. And the answer is no.'

With this stupid gotcha politics from both left and right it's amazing that any politician is willing to speak off-the-cuff.

The last abortion doctor that was murdered was George Tiller.

This pro-life protestor was murdered a few months later:

Most people are murdered by someone they know...if the dead man knew the killer, It could very well be the killer was anti-abortion as well. The murder could have been for hundreds of reasons other than the dead man's stance on abortion.

I will quote you for saying what you say and the Governor will be quoted for what he says. It is not gotcha politics to hear someone say something and believe it is what they mean. You can spin it anyway you wish... Off the cuff moments mean unprepared, unspun and unscreened. It is in these moments of candor people often say what they really think and feel.

Gov. Cuomo Says Extreme Conservatives Have No Future In New York | New York Daily News
Quote:
"Who are they?” Cuomo said about the Republicans. “Are they these extreme conservative, right to life, pro assault weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are, and if they are the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York. Because that’s not who New Yorkers are.
Not that this hasn't been listed a couple of times already in this thread. If you want to double check I am sure Capitol Pressroom, the public radio program he said it on, will provide transcripts for a fee.
