Really?
Is there a state that has a law that makes it illegal for a lesbian to bear a child?
Are there also laws that prevent a gay man from becoming a bio father?

Judge rules that Kansan who provided sperm to lesbian couple owes child support - KansasCity.com

Does it matter at all that the couple were lesbians? Do you think there are other sperm donors out there shaking over this ruling?
i think it's a bit weird that kansas doesn't even recognize "unlicensed artificial insemination."

i understand prosecution of a practitioner who is operating outside the law's licensing requirements, but i don't understand this "pretend it didn't happen" mentality.

I think you may be slightly confused as to what went down and what Kansas law prohibits and allows.

Sounds like he just got one pregnent, stated (to them) he waived parental responsibility, and walked out. Violating the laws governing the acts and responsibilities of being a donor. It's no different in the eyes of the law of getting your girlfriend pregnent, stating you waived reposnsibility for the kid, and skipping town.

We are in agreement.
The state made aid dependent upon disclosure of the bio dad.
It's the state, not the bio mother, who went after him.

Had he donated, in compliance with the statute, he would have remained anonymous.

I had a cousin find out thru a paternity test after 6yrs that his daughter wasn't his and was still ordered by the judge to support this girl who isn't even his because it's in the best interest of the child.

@The OP: Ideally, if he had an agreement with the other parties beforehand, then No. And this principle should ideally apply to all males in such situations.
