The NFL has stated (according to my Seahawk-fan brother-in-law) that, should there be especially bad weather, then the game may be delayed for a week.
If a nor'easter storm dumps feet of snow onto the ground they couldn't have it if they wanted too. I don't know about NJ but here in PA once you have a storm that exceeds a foot they don't have enough manpower and equipment to keep up with it. They start closing down highways and in rare occurences the entire state like they did after the storm in '96. The only people allowed on the road were snow removal crews, emergency personnel and fuel delivery vehicles.
Two hungry fan bases and the wealth of the New York metropolitan area had some guessing that Super Bowl XLVIII would turn out to be the most expensive ticket in Super Bowl history.
However, judging from the reaction of the resale ticket market in the past 24 hours, it could turn out to be one of the least expensive.
On Friday, nine days before the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks meet at MetLife Stadium, the cheapest ticket to buy for the Super Bowl was $1,779 on NFL Ticket Exchange, the league's official resale site. That's $409 cheaper than it was on the site with this many days left last year and $809 cheaper than the year before.
Weather or the economy? Or maybe both?
Location. People want to take the week off and spend it in places like sunny Miami, but who wants to spend it in New Jersey in January? No one. It's also about 6 hour flight from Seattle to get there. They are also talking about rescheduling the game if need be, so people can't even be sure what day the game will be played on.
Denver vs Seattle? It's not a game at least half of the country would even watch on TV. Boring. Manning, again? Boring. TV viewership will be down as well. The SB organizers had hoped for a couple eastern teams, I suppose.
It will be the most watched Super Bowl ever. Book it.
If there is a storm, they will reschedule it. That is one of the problems people are not going.
I think it's unlikely they will reschedule unless it's significant storm. Two to four inches in this area is pretty common, not so sure about that area but it's not too far away.

I am not even throwing a party this year, because I cant be sure if the game is on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday. I won't waste my money and time speculating about it.
Real football fans would rather buy HD TVs -- and a lot of them -- over paying $1,000s of dollars to sit in a blizzard.
If they had built a domed stadium in NJ, they could have used it for concerts, conventions, etc, besides football games.
In the same manner, I can use my HDTVs to watch the Super Bowl AND movies, other sports, TV shows, etc.
Which way gives me the most benefit?
