What the president says should matter and I was raised, and I raised my children, that whether you agree or disagree with the sitting president, it is incumbent on us as Americans and voters to listen and pay attention.
That said, I am NOT going to watch Tuesday. Hypocritical of me, yep, but when Obama speaks, he is so utterly condescending to his political foes, his disdain for those who don’t share his policies reeks with arrogance, so at this point what difference does it make if I don’t hear his chosen words?

Agree completely with your first paragraph. And for the first time in many years I'm not going to be watching it either. I will surf a couple of channels and hear the highlights and listen to the breakdown of the speech after it's all said and done, but I just can't listen to him anymore.
I can't watch idiots stand up and clap every 20 seconds. I can't listen to words he doesn't mean. I can't stand the sight of him or listen to his voice for that long anymore. I don't believe that he has been a good president. I don't believe what he says. I don't have faith in him that he has the best interest of all Americans at heart. So I'll skip it and watch the after-shows instead.
You can't put lipstick on stealing from one to give to another, whether it is by the private sector or the public sector.
I think it's obvious some are not paying their fair share of taxes. The wealthiest, can pay more. We could require the poorest to pay more, yes. But we already subsidize them through food stamps and Medicaid. Defeats the purpose to tax them.
Our spending goes to social security, medicare/medicaid, and defense.

What do you want to cut or change?
And the swift can afford to run slower in a race to make things "even".
The beautiful can afford to stop wearing makeup to make things "even".
The great actors can afford to pass a role on to a struggling actor to make things "even".
The highly intelligent can afford to purposely get answers wrong in order to make things "even".
Great athletes can afford to play a little less than their best in order to make things "even".
If the above sound ridiculous, show me where it's any different than passionate, driven people purposely slowing down their ambitions so others can "catch up"?

So, tax the poor, or let them starve.
What's your choice?
