The last SOTU I watched was Reagan in 1988. He was the last President who used the SOTU to actually tell you the state the union is in, rather than campaign for himself or his party, with the exception of the 2002 (first post 9-11 SOTU) address, which I didn't watch but read the transcript of.

I've read the transcript of every Obama SOTU, and this year's will be more of the same:
  • Lies about how great everything is that he/Democrats have their hands in
  • Lies about how everything would be even better if House Republicans would just all go away
  • Lies about this year's meme, which for 2014 appears to be income inequality
  • Lies about how one group of citizens has it bad because another group has it better
  • Tales of how great he is, in spite of Republicans/racism/Bush
All of that with the requisite kabuki theater of the Ds cheering every other sentence and the Rs sitting there looking petulant/bored/shocked/angry

Did I miss anything? So really, what's to watch? The SOTU is nothing more than the opening bell to 2014 campaign season. I am no fan of either party, but I hate Democrat banality with the white hot fury of a million stars, and he is the most banal, vapid, and puerile Democrat maybe of all time. I can't think of any human alive that I am less interested in hearing speak on any subject ever.

Better acting than at The Oscars, more talent than at the Grammys, more meaningful than the Pro Bowl. You bet I won't watch it. Those events are absolutely worthless and if watching Obama thumb his nose at the country and make excuses and empty promises and lie his face off is only slightly less a waste of time, I'll pass.

When Obama, president stompy foot opens his mouth he is lying.

It's their fault --->>>
<---- It's their fault!

I am willing to work with them but it has to be my way!
I hate the Americans who don't depend on government
More of the same promises and lies.
I have a pen and a phone
I am king, I am king, I am king, I am king, I have a pen and a Obamaphone

Obama is like an old record whose rhythm is soothing but you can't understand the words and when you do find out the words of the song you find them repulsive.

Really, it would be torture to listen to what this man says knowing full well his words are meaningless, open to convenient interpretation and he appears as a perennial victim rather than a leader.

Aside from that his claims of being open to ideas is a pure lie and fits quite well into the pattern of lies and intentional misleading words that have become Obama's trademark.

Only after his speech does anyone have a chance to learn what h' meant to say' by the legions of party media range riders. We the people are too stupid to understand what Obama's words mean without the help of the media propaganda machine.

Obama's SOTU speech is a can a stale beer and just as palatable.

Thank You, you have Obama pegged so right. Listening to him when your not sick is one thing, you then get sick, but when your sick and in bed and have a temp. As I have for the past 4 days, listening to him might sent my temp up, and a trip to the hospital. No Thanks.

His words are meaningless and I hate liars Period.

I fully expect you to either watch and/or react violently on this board to what he says in the SOTU.

You apparently already know what he's going to say, so why waste time reading the transcript? I'm just trying to figure out the source of your anger.

I will watch. It's probably pointless, but otherwise you're waiting for "political analysis", which is like going to church, never reading the bible, and taking the preachers word for it.

I don't trust someone else that much

My thoughts exactly. On Wednesday everyone here is an expert on someone else's spin, be it from MSNBC or FOX.
