Well the other non-issue is the concept that people will be stoned at the Superbowl...it's a funny joke, ha ha, the two states w/legal pot going to the <insert pic of Dr. Evil here> "Super. Bowl." It is to lulz.

But of course the players are barred from smoking, and it's not legal where the event will be held. And our states (especially CO) don't necessarily have more pot users than anywhere else. We just don't put them in jail anymore. It was really more of a Libertarian "What you do with your own body is not the State's business and I'm sick of my tax dollars feeding minor pot offenders in the jails" law here. Can't speak for WA though.

Sooo....non issue.

Thanks for clearing that up. There is a huge misconception that legalization is ONLY a liberal stance. Last time I checked Libertarianism is in fact a conservative ideology. In other words, keep the damn government out of our private lives, and out of our bodies.

Well said. And gotta love the convenient hypocrisy of many:
"We want gubmint outta our lives! Exepct for ____, ___, and of course ___."

Exactly. It's total hypocrisy. Just because you don't like something, and feel "icky" about it, don't begrudge me or try to stop me from doing it. If any of my actions cause harm to you or your family, or anyone else, then fine. Otherwise... leave me the hell alone.

For crying out loud.

So while the people of CO have spoken, and I agree, that it is what it is and shouldn't be a big thing... We have a local news station that has been running stories almost daily about "dangers" resulting from legalization. Many of these stories have been almost ABSURD. This popped up on my FB newsfeed today:

Pro-pot billboards go up around Super Bowl | KOAA.com |

Apparently some of our pro pot folks are trying (or succeeding) in using the Superbowl as a venue for their agenda. While I agree with the message's content, and I support legalization politically, I think that as with many groups they are failing to see that pushing this in certain ways might hurt their cause. As in, people who don't support it who drive by with kids are going to be put off by the "in-your-face" factor. It just isn't common sense in my opinion.

I think that people of my state need to get the message out that just because it's legal here doesn't mean that it's pervasive and affects everyone. You can seriously just go on living your life in CO and it can have zero effect on you if that's what you want. We're not all of a sudden "stoner central." I wish that the most vocal supporters of legal weed would calm down and let America come to the logical conclusions without being this aggressive about it.

(But then, I also think that billboards with other extreme agenda messages are in poor taste, too. You've got a right to your position and your passion but let's not beat people over the head with it.)
