I don't understand....what are the drivers doing? Getting off at the first exit? That is not probable cause.

Fake drug checkpoint in Mayfield Heights is legal, experts say | cleveland.com

Three of the motorists crossed through the grassy median or at emergency vehicle crossings, evasive actions that gave police reasonable suspicion to stop those cars.

check points are used for many functions.
the further you are from the law the less you will like them.
driving off the pavement when you see a cop at a checkpoint is not normal behavior.

Know your rights. Don't speak to a cop unless a lawyer is present, don't let them search your car make them get a warrant or probable cause. If you get out lock the car roll up windows pocket the keys. Only thing you need to tell a cop is I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY.

I am under no threat to have drugs in my possession. My license and insurance is paid and up to date. I don't care much for checkpoints. It goes counter to what we are supposed to believe in this country. Innocent until proven guilty. A checkpoint is saying everyone is possibly guilty until you prove you aren't.

Don't you know??!!! They are there to protect and serve.. (When pigs fly) In addition to the above mentioned advice, if a cop knocks on your home door, you are in no way required to answer it. Keep it locked and don't answer. If you think for a minute they won't set you up, you are mistaken. Let them go get a warrant and contact your attorney immediately.
