2014 Plagiarism Claim:
Yahoo!

2011 Plagiarism Claim:
Obama's State of the Union Was Tantamount to Plagiarism - Alvin Felzenberg (usnews.com)

Obama was accused of plagiarizing in his SOTU 2011 speech and now his 2014 speech as well. This time he was accused of plagiarizing none other than GWB. It wasn't word for word and isn't a big deal. Just the same catch words and flow from the speech writers.

He probably didn't actually plagiarize Bush, just that "Great" minds think alike.

So you start a thread under the premise that he plagiarized, then you reason that he didn't. Great.

I had that same feeling. I said to myself...OMG this is exactly what every other President has said in every other SotU address.

Did you see the question mark? The title is a question. The premise is that he has been accused of it.

I think GWB and Obama are of similar intellectual thought.

What do you think?

Well some people say there is nothing new in history - just everything is recycled.

Keep saying "opportunity" and other buzz words. Move to energy and other buzz words. Move to healthcare and other buzz words. End with wounded soldier applause.

I have always said that W Bush was to a large extent, a liberal. I further have always thought that the subconscious reason that the left hated him so much was that he was encroaching on their turf.

Another way to see W Bush is that he was basically a pre-McGovern Democrat. He was what the Dems were before the party went insane, and started pushing everything from smoking bans to vaccine bans, to ENDA (boys in the girls' locker room).

Well, you already proved he didn't after you asked the question in the title...so why do you wish to even discuss this topic?

Well Obama and Bush are virtually identical in policies, intellectual ability, personality. Obama isn't called Bush 44 for nothing.

I didn't prove he didn't. I just don't think Obama asked his speechwriters to mirror GWB - but they did and Obama approved of it.

However, there are certainly striking similarities between Bush's SOTU and Obama's SOTU yesterday -- it is so close and scripted so closely that it wouldn't shock me if they used it as inspiration.

GWB = Obama on so many levels.
