Will it ever stop Either reduce the budget for the private contractors and give it to OUR soliders, or better yet, BRING THEM HOME. Stop with the whining, crying, mud slinging and mis-representation that Congress is failing to support the troops. This is getting about as old as every other month we're on heightened security alert

President Bush on Thursday called on Congress to approve billions of dollars in additional funding for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan before lawmakers leave for their Christmas break.

President Bush wants Congress to approve his request for war spending before the holidays.

He said the Army will have to shut down bases and start furloughing between 100,000 and 200,000 civilian workers by mid-February if Congress does not clear the funds.

Oh, this is current. I could have sworn that was just his speech from a few month back being played on a loop. Same rhetoric, same crap. There was supposed to be some major things happen in September with Petraeus reporting how the Iraqi govt is doing. We have increased security a great deal, yet there is nothing being said other than the surge is working. Great. The surge was to create more peace so Iraqi govt could step up and we could step out. That obviously has not been going so well. 5000 troops coming home is good, but really there needs to be more than that coming back.

I am very concerned about our troops over there, but I cannot see our congress voting to give more money. It really makes me angry that Bush and congress are playing politics while our troops are dying. It's time to bring them home!

Congress needs to tell Bush to go to hell. I am wondering how my young kids are going to pay off this war already! What a load of crap. And I am ready to vote out every congressperson who votes for funding this war, too!

I have a feeling that they're going to fail to stick to their position and approve funding, just because they dont' want to appear to not be supporting the troops - when this could be the furtherest thing from the truth.

I suppose we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Democrats have 2 options.

1) Bring them home now
A) If Iraq becomes unstable, it proves that the republicans were right, that we had to stay longer..
B) If Iraq stays stable as we leave, it gives the republicans positive press because we invaded, and that country would be stable

2) Keep them there, so that the war continues to stay on the frontpage of every newspaper from now till election day.

Look at this forum alone, and realise that keeping them in Iraq, helps to ensure that people vote demoratic next election, its all politics..

I saw this idiot on the news, why doesnt he ask the oil and defense companies that have profited off of the war to pay more in taxes, how about taking back those tax cuts for the wealthy and have them contribute something to society

Words can not describe my hatred for Bush and this entire disgusting adminstration

ANY member of the Executive or Legislative Branch from either party that would pursue or end a war for purely political reasons should be charged with and tried for treason. If convicted they should be hung on the National Mall as an example for all to see.

Nothing12 – Blasphemer! Reduce War payments to the profiteers? Go do penance by paying more taxes you heretical liberal.

This war is not about politics or oil or "democracy". It is about MONEY! It is about who pays and who profits. The people doing the dying don't matter at all. Just look at how we treat our Veterans and their families. Who gives and who gets is all that counts. The poor give their lives; the middle class gives their money and the very rich collect the profit. This is not Iraq’s war it is Wall Street’s war.
