All that ever seems to be reported in the media is countries that dislike their government and want to replace them with another government.

Is there any country that actually largely supports its government?

Can anyone think of a reason to support government beyond the taxes they (presumably) already pay?

The United States Government has proven that it can no longer do big things effectively. Afterall, we're $16 Trilliion in debt, our people are out of work, we live in a police/spy state, and we can't even build a functional website.

So, tell me why anyone should support a government that doesn't even get things right to begin with? Eternal optimism? Apathy? Ignorance?

Dissent is patriotic. Embrace it.

Government is a necessary evil. It should not really be liked. They need to be tolerated because there are things they need to do, that can't be done by other types organizations, at least without causing even worse problems. But if they try to be liked to much, it likely means they're becoming too intrusive.

Indeed. Government is a necessary "evil." Which is why it should always be limited in its authority. The more carte blanche a government has to do whatever it wants, the more "evil" government becomes. It is inevitable.

The voters are to blame.

There are plenty of other choices out there but voters are either too stupid or too lazy to do proper research. So we are left with 2 partys of one political machine in charge.

The hardcore partisans continue to treat politics like it's a damn sporting event. RAH! RAH! Go team! Meanwhile, nothing changes, and both mainstream parties continue to sell this country down the river! We the people get the government that we vote for.
