The Trader Joe's grocery-store chain has dropped a plan to open a new store in the heart of the city's historically African-American neighborhood after activists said the development would price black residents out of the area.

I hate being considered oppressed or incapable because of my skin color.
If push comes to shove, I bet I hold my own against anyone.
Test me.
I'll put up a grocery store...just don't have the money. I wonder why?

Yup.
If we live amongst you all...we're vilified, constantly walking on eggshells for maybe wearing a hoodie innapropriately or listening to music too loudly, or even shot at just to watch the guy go free...
No one needs that.
Stick to your side until you learn how to treat people.
I've never seen a Trader Joe's in a residential area anyway. They're in commercial districts here.
Besides, that place is super expensive anyway. Hell, I can barely afford anything in the place and I make a good living.
Our Trader Joe's here in Atlanta is in a pretty residential area. It is also a commercial node, but nothing like the big shopping center's you see in the burbs. I actually have never been because there is never any parking spaces at Trader Joes lol!
But I hear they are much cheaper than Whole Foods. They have a Whole Foods now in Detroit! People say Whole Foods is expensive but I find that as long as you aren't getting a bunch of special brands and if you just stick with fruits/veggies like I do when I go there (and stay in season) then they are pretty comparable to big brand grocers.
I go to Whole Foods quite a bit, it is one of my kids' favorite stores since they give out a lot of free samples lol.

Depends on what you buy, some things are pretty cheap or the same price as a grocery store.
As for the location, this wasn't a residential area, it was an inner city arterial road.
