Now, don't get me wrong. America has always opened its arms to those seeking to find and share the freedoms we cherish here. But, how many of these are willing to give up what they're taught in their mosques for what our constitution says are our basic rights?
Dude, 73,184 people is not a big deal in terms of immigration to America. "Refugee" asylum is abused pretty badly in Europe but that's not our problem since the scale here isn't nearly so impactful.
You do know that all of FY 2008 and part of FY 2009 were when Bush was still in office, right? And what did the stats look like before those years?
We don't get a lot of refugees from European countries or rich Asian countries, and we do (not surprisingly) get a lot from the middle east and Africa due to the instability there. I don't find these numbers very surprising.
If you look at languages spoken by all immigrants I would bet that Spanish and Chinese are #1 and #2.
Not surprising, since Arabic is the 5th most spoken language on the planet, and just about every Arabic-speaking country has a rotten, repressive government.
Wow, there were 17,000 Arabic speaking refugees that moved here last year. The horror!
That's 0.005% of the US population. Run for the hills!
