Wow. Why won't our country allow us to vote on this?
They are stopping migration from within the EU. This is the same as if it were one state in the US making a law that people from other states may not freely come and go. It is stupid, as now the other countries in the EU may be forced to retaliate, as it goes against the principle of free movement of persons between the EU and Switzerland. Their exports may be blocked and it could hurt their economy in the end--they may not be allowed to simply pick and choose which policies of the EU they wish to participate in--like cherry-pick the benefits.

They can come and go. They just can't move there and look for work.

The EU is a mess with mass emigration from the hardest hit economies to look for work.
It's finally impacting those economies that weren't hit too hard.
i looked at switzerlands population pyramid and its stable until the end of this century, wont be a drop in the population until 2095, so they can get away with doing this for now.
the white conservatives want us to stop all non white immigration in the US though, which means they want to turn us into a population pyramid of japan.
japan has a population of 127 now, by 2100 they'll be down to 84 million. they keep moving at that pace japan will be gone in 500 or so years. i always bring that up when white conservatives males talk about immigration.
Japan is an overpopulated, small, mountainous island country with extremely expensive land and housing and few natural resources. Have you considered that maybe they don't want any more people and for good reason? Should they let a bunch of people in, continue building vertically and importing more and more food and oil as their population's purchasing power and standard of living continually decline as wages stagnate and prices continually inflate? Or maybe build some more nuclear power plants because Fukushima worked out so well? Maybe they should live like a bunch of rats in a cage with increasing cost of living and dwindling resources eroding their middle class just so people will be impressed by their GDP number.
Maybe that's the kind of future you want for the US? Bulldoze all the forests so we can throw up more shopping malls, factories, prisons, parking lots and housing complexes to accommodate the rest of the world's people. Pollute the air, water, and land trying to feed, house, and cloth another hundred million people. More fracking, drilling, and mining at increasingly higher extraction costs raising the cost of everything.
Let's not stop until the whole country looks like this:
Have you considered that some people don't want a ton of immigration because they actually care about the environment, not because they're racist white conservatives? If liberals really cared about nature and the environment they wouldn't want to open the floodgates and ruin what's left of the country that's not covered in pavement, pollution, and trash.

What a mess. This is an anglo-white country. We should only be allowing immigration from those countries to keep our identity.
Agreed IF talking about "culture", NOT skin color. Like I'd rather have Juan Valdez of original Aztec Indian family who was born and raised in England move here than Helene Nielsen from Argentina even tho Ms Nielsen has "white skin" and blue eyes.
while the conservatives and republicans in this country want to export all the work to china.
Not me and I'm NO "liberal". I'd rather see our own people growing and making stuff right here in the US.
