No one is equal to another. Marriage is not a right....The states now need to end state recognition of ALL marriage...that will be legal and **** off the homosexual lobby.
Marriage is in FACT a right as stated by the supreme court in 14 separate cases. You might disagree with them, but they determine these things, not you.
Then why not just put it on the ballot and let them all vote for it like they did before? Very simple. Then I would just say Nevada is full of idiots. Which doesn't surprise me...ever been there? Nevada is. The Nevada Attorney General's decision not to be part of the 9th Circuit appeal does not have anything to do with the Nevada Senate working to put a constitutional repeal of the 2002 SSM ban on the ballot for a vote.

marriage is the church's institution, not the state's. the state has only borrowed it for their own use. should the state not like its definition, tough tata's. take it or leave it, but one isnt allowed to change that which does not belong to them.

States have laws, benefits, and protections called marriage.
The constitution says "No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; ... nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
By denying same sex couples marriage, states are in direct conflict with the constitution.
The only way states can deny equal protection of the laws to a segment of society is to show how doing so will further a compelling state interest. So far no state has been able to show how denying same sex couples marriage furthers any state interest.

Sorry, but no church owns the definition of marriage for the rest of us, and our government can not legally favor your religious beliefs over anyone elses.
It has amazed me for some time now that Nevada outlaws gay marriage. The money that they could make in their wedding related industry must be very hard to pass up.
The state cannot fight the decision made by the supreme court last year, no state will be able to fight that decision. DOMA was unconstitutional and all state bans on same sex marriage are unconstitutional. All citizens of this country are equal and that includes homosexuals. We pay taxes, we vote, we are US citizens and all the laws in this country need to be fairly and equally applied and bans on same sex marriage have no standing, no grounds, for there is no legitimate reason to deny same sex couples the right to equal marriage. Marriage is a right and it will not and cannot be denied us. And, the majority does not have the right to make laws against a minority, that is tyranny of the majority and where does it end, just with gay people, or shall we include racial discrimination, or sex, or economic discrimination? I feel that those who use their morals or beliefs to judge others or to deny them equality are the ones who are mentally unstable.
You're getting a little ahead of yourself there. The SCOTUS decision did not address the constitutionality of banning same sex marriage. In time the Court will have to decide this, of course, but for now there is no constitutional right to marry for same sex persons in states where it is banned. I think you will see those bans fall in most jurisdictions - certainly in Nevada and Arizona which are under the jurisdiction of the 9th Circuit. In the unlikely event they do not, both AZ and NV will have ballot measures in 2016 to repeal that, according to recent polling, will pass. But the courts in the southern states are more conservative and may well rule the opposite and leave it to the Supremes to sort out. Gay marriage everywhere is an inevitability, but it is not here just yet.
