U.S. oil imports fell sharply again in 2013 while petroleum exports rose, leading some analysts to proclaim that a new era of energy independence is just a few years away.

Experts largely credit new drilling techniques that have unearthed vast troves of previously inaccessible oil embedded in shale deposits in states such as North Dakota and Texas.

U.S. may be inching toward oil independence

It won't run out, because US reserves are very large.

Due to the massive oil drilling boom in US will be the largest oil producer in the world in several years. We have had several threads about this. If you listen to some media personalities, you'd come out thinking oil drilling is against the law in US, but they couldn't be further from the truth. We are booming.

So we wonder where all the oil money went in foreign countries that sell oil, and why the disparity of wealth.....now we can wonder where it went when generated in the good old USA. Actually the tax generated form Oil companies is the single greatest source of government cash. The feds are the oil industry's children.

To become oil independant via natural resources would terribly mess up Obama's socialist program agenda.

Could you ever imagine a candidate saying 'energy prices would necessarily skyrocket under my plan" and he would win the election!!!!?????? Something else is at play here, better take a good look.
