Not long ago there were suicide bombers going off every week or so. And rockets almost everyday aimed at Israel. Now one barely hears about rockets and never suicide bombers. Whats going on. Maybe the Palestinians are mellowing out or something. Or maybe they are laying back and waiting for the right time to start their terrorist work again. Who Knows.

They're all occupied watching Al Jazeera's excellent Winter Olympics coverage most likely...

Maybe they realize like Sinn Fein, you will not be taken serious as a party if you're blowing people up. Lets hope that Israel and Palesrine both get it.

I don't think they should employ terror tactics against civilians (or anyone else that doesn't pose a physical threat to them), but I see NO REASON why they should mellow.

If you believe that you have a right to return to your homeland, then you should be raising hell about it until it happens. And if you think you have a right to an independent and sovereign Palestine where Arabs can practice self determination and not have your future dictated to you out of Tel Aviv, that's also a reason to raise hell.

So maybe they have mellowed. Their tactics up to this point haven't been very successful. Maybe they're just tired.

All that aside, my only concern is that the U.S. stays out of that conflict. I'm not taking a side either way. I cant gin up enough concern to give a damn about the Middle East anymore. It's been nothing but trouble for us...expensive and unsuccessful trouble.

Nah. The stockpiles of brain dead idiots willing to blow themselves up is thinning out. Either their gene pool is improving or some people might be wising up to the virgins hype in the afterlife.

First, Israeli citizens in general are very security minded and vigilant for suicide bombers. Most large stores have armed private security that look for anything suspicious. Of course, Israeli police and military personnel are at all the "high value" targets.

Second, imprecise Palestinian rocket attacks are often countered by direct Israeli air strikes.

Lastly, are Palestinians mellowing about the existence of Israel? I doubt it. They are probably biding their time and waiting for Iran and Israel to go at it before they join the melee.

You really believe that Israel would attack Iran?

I can't see it. For one, it would be a disaster...no less so for Israel than Iran.

That is, unless you think Iran would attack Israel first...and that's as far fetched as the tooth fairy.

Are you asking if it's not happening?

Or just why it's not being reported?

If the latter, then it's a very good question.

At a certain point, you have to accept the inevitability of things. The Cherokee have every moral right to still be raising hell about being forcibly removed to Oklahoma. That said, no amount of hell raising was ever going to get them their land back in Northern Georgia and surrounding areas. They decided long ago to concentrate on making Oklahoma the best it could be for them and to eventually form a working, if guarded, relationship with the stronger party which displaced them. While the circumstances aren't exactly the same, the Palestinians could learn something: Your people would be better served by focusing on a realistic vision for the future rather than dwelling on a lost past which is, for all intents and purposes, unrecoverable. Make peace (if not friends) with Israel. Put your energy into improving the ground which is under your feet rather than obsessing about the ground that was taken from you (or, in most cases, your ancestors) 40, 50, or 60 years ago.

If Palestine wants to be an independent, sovereign member of the world of nations then they should start acting like one. Give up the demand for "right of return," quit poking Israel with rocket attacks and bus bombings, share with the world your vision for a responsible nation within the land you currently control which includes peace with Israel, and watch the tide of public opinion in the US swing to your favor. The Palestinians try to portray the Israelis as "bully's" which they are. Problem is, the Palestinians too often act like the taunting little punk so nobody cares much when the bully roughs them up. Quit being the punk and take away the bully's justification for being a bully. It may hurt your pride in the short run, but in the long run it would give you the indisputable moral high ground.

The Palestinians are definitely not mellowing. There are still rocket attacks being aimed at Southern Israel but most of the Western media is not reporting these frequent attacks.
