Doesn't matter. The Patriot Act, supported by MOST Americans and nearly all in Congress triggered the situation we are in right now. Repeal or gut the Patriot Act if you really believe the government is doing unacceptably wrong things. Don't support the Patriot Act while attacking NSA. You can't have both.

I supported it back in the Bush days a lot of people also did back then, i still do. but for some reason people suddenly decided they hate it...

I don't support the Patriot Act. We also have no need to feel up old ladies at the airport either.

Very true. Throw out the Patriot Act, and then pass a law that is actually commensurate to the threat that existed in 2001. Without all the flag waving and invective. I'm sure every democracy in the world has a security law. We might look at a few as examples of how it is done when a right wing zealot isn't in charge.
