Not entirely true unless you live in "community property" state(Arizona, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin). In "common law" states your spouse's debt is their debt alone unless the debt was for a family need.

She wasn't skydiving, she was BASE jumping.

Once she removed herself physically from the mountain, she was falling, and plummeted to the earth at 9.8 m/s just as does any other object that falls.

Furthermore, it was not her intention to hit the ground at that speed, her parachute did not open.

It is safe to say that she fell.

They both got down by themselves and neither had to be rescued.

Her estate should be fined for her jump as well as all the rescue and recovery of the body costs.

What rescue.

He hiked out of the park himself.

Recovery of body perhaps, but once again, "rescue" has no meaning in this case.

The man did not have to be rescued - he hiked out of the park himself.

As for the lady - it is rather difficult to rescue a dead person.

Technically yes, she had to be recovered. But my statement was a generalization. Sometimes people do have to be rescued. You got yourself up there, get yourself down.

No one should be charged for anything. Our taxes pay for the services we receive including fire and rescue. The woman lost her life that's enough hurt for the man to go through...that park was as much theirs as it is mine and everyone else that pays taxes to maintain it. We can have fun in it if we choose to.
